Community Disability Support Worker — part time (flexible hours)

Community Disability Support Workers work in an interdisciplinary environment (SLP, OT, PT, and Community Inclusion Consultants) to assist in my son’s social inclusion including communication using assistive devices and language, as well as promoting his personal development.

Position Start Date:  As soon as possible

Position End Date:  N/A

Salary:  $22.95/hr 

Duties Include:

  • Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary team-based approach by implementing and contributing to team recommendations

  • Provide 1 to 1 support to young adults with disabilities

  • Facilitate daily schedule and complete daily documentation

  • Promote valued roles and social connections for young adults with disabilities in the community

  • Encourage independence and self-accomplishment for young adults with disabilities

  • Promote physical activity and assist in administering an exercise program

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate client centered values

  • Demonstrate good communication skills and collaborative efforts in a team

  • Effective time management and priority management skills

  • Previous volunteer or work related experience that demonstrates people skills

  • Criminal record check required within 1 month of hiring

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Valid emergency first aide certificate an asset

Community Disability Support Workers work in an interdisciplinary environment (OT, PT, and Community Inclusion Consultants) to assist in developing roles through the use of OT models, enhancing participation in meaningful occupations, as well as administering exercise programs to support physical activities and activities of daily living

Position Start Date:  As soon as possible

Position End Date:  N/A

Salary:  $22.95/hr

  • Participate in collaborative interdisciplinary team-based approach by implementing and contributing to team recommendations

  • Provide 1 to 1 support to young adults with disabilities
