Our Philosophy

We are dedicated to supporting people with disabilities to experience full citizenship and genuine belonging in their community.

We build inclusive communities through valued social roles.

We help support people with disabilities carryout valued social roles in their community.

Valued Social Roles help give purpose and meaning to our lives, and they influence how we view ourselves and how others view us. Valued social roles are the everyday roles of ordinary life and are based on individual unique interests, skills and gifts.

Think ROLES, not “activities” (being a horseman is different than going for a ride on a horse).

Our Values and Beliefs

Our work with individuals, families and employees is guided by the following values and beliefs:

  • Every person has the right to direct his or her own life

  • Every person is entitled to respect and dignity

  • Every person has something to contribute

  • Mutually rewarding relationships enhance the quality of life

  • We encourage innovation and creativity

  • Diversity strengthens our communities

Contributing to the community through valued social roles that are based on personal strengths and interests allows people to feel accepted, and experience a sense of belonging. Taking on valued roles helps to challenge outdated and negative stereotypes around people with disabilities.
